In the 70s and 80s, Americas manufacturing was adversely impacted by Japanese imports. These imports consisted of quality by manufacturing that produced crossroads with a lower price. American companies could not compete with this new-made style of business which demanded change. So American companies changed the way they tacit quality, from a mere inspection function to becoming a core strategy of consistently providing the best possible product at the proper price point in the market place. This endeavor of culture change, to become a company implant in quality, is a difficult but long destination rewarding accomplishment.
